The 2022 edition of the Famalicão Young Film Festival, Ymotion, is already taking its first steps. The cycle of "Screenings and Talks with Young Filmmakers" will start on January 27 and will last until March 10, travelling through secondary schools and higher education institutions in Famalicão, Porto and Santo Tirso.
Six sessions are scheduled, including the screening of award-winning films in the 7th edition of the festival (2021), followed by a discussion with the directors and young students in the fields of cinema, audio-visual and multimedia.
The sessions will also count with the presence of guests connected to cinema, such as the journalist and film critic Rui Tendinha, the actress Sónia Balacó, the director Pedro Peralta, the actress Leonor Seixas, the film journalist Tiago Alves, among others.
Besides promoting the award-winning films at Ymotion to the school public, this cycle of screenings and conversations aims to explore, in a classroom context, the aesthetic and thematic importance of the films, as well as to strengthen ties with teachers and students, regarding the conception/making of future film works, that may be submitted to national and international film festivals.
The cycle of "Screenings and Conversations with Young Filmmakers" will pass by the Professional School of Nun'Alvres Institute - OFICINA (Santo Tirso), Padre Benjamim Salgado Secondary School (Famalicão), Camilo Castelo Branco Secondary School (Famalicão), Multimedia Institute (Porto), Porto Artistic School and Soares dos Reis Artistic School (Porto).
It is recalled that Ymotion is a festival organised by Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council since 2015, which has established itself in the circuit of film shows and festivals in the country, serving as a lever for the work of young filmmakers aged 12 to 35. Alongside the short film competition, it develops, throughout the year, training and educational activities.
